Construction Manager
Blueprint Ministries | San Antonio, TX
Full-time | $50,000 annually | Exempt
Reports to: Construction Director
How to Apply - Interested applicants should email a resume and brief cover letter explaining why they are interested in the position to Charles Gonzales at Charles@blueprintministry.com. Applications submitted any other way, including through LinkedIn or Indeed will not be considered.
Blueprint Ministries restores homes and hope for low-income individuals and families through essential home repairs, extending Christ’s love to all. Our team works with mission camps, volunteers, and apprentices across San Antonio.
We’re looking for a hands-on construction leader who enjoys solving problems, finishing projects, and helping others learn. You’ll take pride in both the completed repair and the person who gained a skill beside you.
You will love this job if…
You enjoy developing creative, practical solutions and have the judgment to know when to ask for help.
You take ownership, stay organized, and follow through on details until the work is finished.
You enjoy teaching patiently, encouraging beginners, and balancing learning with safety, quality, and progress.
You communicate respectfully, welcome feedback, and take initiative while following shared processes.
You want to serve Jesus through home repair and treat homeowners and teammates with dignity.
You will not enjoy this job if…
You want a superintendent-style role with little hands-on construction.
You prefer working alone or only with experienced tradespeople, or repeated questions and beginner mistakes frustrate you.
Following through on details, adjusting plans, or receiving direction is difficult for you.
You need a schedule without occasional Saturdays or extended camp hours.
What you will do
Lead fieldwork and develop apprentices.
More days than not, you’ll actively complete repairs alongside the Home Repair Specialist, who reports to you—whether or not apprentices or volunteers are scheduled. Plan daily work, solve problems, maintain safe job sites, and finish projects on time. Your focus is non-camp projects; the other Construction Manager primarily leads camp and volunteer projects.
Manage Blueprint’s Living Heritage Trades Academy involvement: teach and mentor apprentices while working beside them, help select projects, track hours, and communicate progress, attendance, employment concerns, and other challenges to partner agencies.
Keep tools and materials ready.
Maintain shop inventory and stocked job boxes. Prepare material lists, coordinate purchases with the Construction Director, obtain approval, place orders, and track timely, accurate deliveries.
Communicate and support the team.
Coordinate homeowner updates, schedule changes, and technical questions with the other Construction Manager from contract signing through the signed Project Completion Agreement. Log calls and progress in Salesforce; participate in quarterly project selection and home walkthroughs; and support camp and retreat logistics, weekend volunteers, facility needs, and other assigned duties.
Follow operational direction from the Campus and Construction Operations Director and Senior Director of Operations. Responsibilities may shift between Construction Managers based on team strengths and organizational needs.
Qualifications
At least three years of residential construction experience, including roofing, siding, drywall, flooring, and ramps.
Strong written and verbal communication, teaching, and constructive feedback skills.
Ability to perform strenuous outdoor work, including in triple-digit heat.
Competent-person safety training or willingness to complete Blueprint-paid training within 30 days of hire.
Valid driver’s license and insurance, U.S. work authorization, and ability to pass a criminal background check.
English–Spanish bilingual ability preferred.
Schedule and location
Based at San Antonio job sites and 2926 South Presa Street. Typical hours: Monday–Thursday, 8 a.m.–4 p.m.; Friday, 8 a.m.–2 p.m.; approximately one Saturday monthly. Extended hours are required during mission camps, especially June and July. Primarily on-site, with occasional remote administrative work.
Benefits
10 days of PTO after three months of successful employment, a paid week off after summer, and a paid holiday between Christmas and New Year’s Day. Steeply discounted health, dental, and vision insurance begins the first full month of employment.
